Start Spreading the News, We Homeschooled in New York

We tagged along on one my husband’s business trip to NYC in November/December 2012.  My husband’s parents came along for the fun.

We got there the Friday after Thanksgiving and stayed until the following Wednesday.  We stayed at the Marriott, Times Square edmedicom.com. As luck would have it, our room was a high floor room with a view of Times Square.  The boys were mesmerized by all the lights.  We thoroughly enjoyed walking all around the city.  Thankfully the super cold weather missed us.

I tried to pack in as many “New York” learning experiences as I could.  We went to the Top of the Rock, Central Park, the 911 Memorial, a Broadway show, the Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes, the Statue of Liberty, Outdoor Ice Skating, a visit to the “real” Santa at Macys (BIG Disappointment, he had on a fake beard!), lunch in Chinatown, browsing in Little Italy, and lastly a trip to the Natural History Museum and their special temporary “Poison” exhibit.  We made sure to take a few taxi rides, with the boys hailing the cabs. We rode the subway into Hoboken, NJ to meet friends for dinner.  Of course, while we were there we had to go to Carlos Bakery and get tons of things to sample for homeschool research ;).

The boys LOVED NYC! Hoping to go during the springtime next so we can walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and hang out in Brooklyn Heights, as well as see the Yankees play!
