Won’t You Let me Take You on a Sea Cruise!

In September of 2015 we took our boys on a 7 night Disney Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Fantasy.  In 2012, we had taken them on a 4 night Disney cruise to the Bahamas on Memorial Day weekend.  It was so much fun, we decided to up the ante.  My brother, his homeschooled 8 year son, and my parents came too.  We went down a few days early so we could visit Universal Studios on a Thursday and Friday.  We had so much fun in the Harry...

For the Love of Legos- Legoland Florida Resort and Park

I refer to Legos at my house as “the devil”.  It is really a love/hate relationship.  I love the creativity that it brings out in my boys, but I can’t stand the mess.  Have you ever stepped on a lego barefooted?  Can you say excruciating pain?  We tend to over do things a little in our household.  Our boys have way more legos than we would like to admit.  I spent weeks a couple summers ago organizing all of them into...

Captain’s Log- Just Need to Vent

Captain’s Log, February 27, 2016 : Ever have one of those weeks that you felt that you are a complete failure at homeschooling?  So bad that you are sure your children are quite possibly going to be the cleverest inmates in the county jail instead of the astute scholars that you envisioned?   What a doozie of a week!  Every time school work was mentioned it was like a demented game of tag team to make mom crazy and distracted....

Washington D.C. – A Visit to Famous Homeschooler’s Home

In February 2013 my husband was taking a business trip to D.C.  Instead of flying, we decided to take our truck and ride together.  From our house, it is about a 9/10 hour drive.  We stayed 4 nights at a Marriott in Herndon, Virginia close to my husband’s D.C. office.  We had such a fun time exploring the city. A good friend of mine lives in DC and joined us for some of our explorations.  Our hotel was not close to a metro stop...

Start Spreading the News, We Homeschooled in New York

We tagged along on one my husband’s business trip to NYC in November/December 2012.  My husband’s parents came along for the fun. We got there the Friday after Thanksgiving and stayed until the following Wednesday.  We stayed at the Marriott, Times Square edmedicom.com. As luck would have it, our room was a high floor room with a view of Times Square.  The boys were mesmerized by all the lights.  We thoroughly enjoyed walking all...

Homeschooling in Hawaii

What an adventure!  My father in law invited us to join him for his annual convention in Maui. We never pass up on travel!   Fortunately and unfortunately, my husband travels a lot.  While we miss him while he is gone, it allows us to use “points” to take the boys to places they are learning about.  My twins are visual learners.  Being able to see something in person is far more valuable than reading about it.  You can also see...
